Negev Varod/Seeing Pink

Mickey L.D. Morgan

Mickey L.D. Morgan is presenting a visual-scroll-format and audio-collage thoughtstream poem called Negev Varod/Seeing Pink. It combines a visual text of the poem with an audio reading of the poem with recorded sounds. Practicing the oral-written paired tradition of Judaism with an emphasis on translating for multiple points of access, the work focuses on pink-washing, the act of propagandizing 2LGBTQ+ acceptance in order to obscure systemic violence.

A detailed audio introduction by the artist is available below the artwork, along with a matching transcript. Also available is an audio version of the poem, as well as an ASL interpreted version with voiceover.

The background is a gradient colour of dark pink and black, with multicoloured texts that reads: "blood-bathed middle-east that won't eat you, bones and all, just for lookin twospiritlesbigaybitransgenderqueeraceintersex- or somethin. This nation-state is the only safe haven in this land".
