Mickey L.D. Morgan
Mickey L.D. Morgan is presenting a visual-scroll-format and audio-collage thoughtstream poem called Negev Varod/Seeing Pink. It combines a visual text of the poem with an audio reading of the poem with recorded sounds. Practicing the oral-written paired tradition of Judaism with an emphasis on translating for multiple points of access, the work focuses on pink-washing, the act of propagandizing 2LGBTQ+ acceptance in order to obscure systemic violence.
A detailed audio introduction by the artist is available below the artwork, along with a matching transcript. Also available is an audio version of the poem, as well as an ASL interpreted version with voiceover.
*The title Negev Varod is reversed in this video due to an accidental initial recording that was passed on to interpreters. Hebrew being a mother tongue the artist is using but not fluent in, this translation represents the nature of the diasporas they’re describing and has been included to offer transparency.
There are two text versions of this poem. One is an experimental html page. It uses the open-dyslexic font and has been formatted to be screen-reader friendly. The other is a black and white word format version.
